Listen to our experts discussing future solar energy and storage solutions broadcasted at Expo 2020

On November 6th at Expo 2020 in Dubai, the three companies behind the power system of the Sweden pavilion came together to discuss decentralized energy production and how a property owner can embrace technology for the future.

The panelists were: Mats Karlström from Ferroamp, Martin Holsner from Nilar, and Christoffer Caesar from Soltech Energy.

The following topics were discussed:

  • What are the opportunities to create a decentralized energy production that promotes smart sustainable impact?
  • Can Swedish innovation accelerate the energy transition to make a positive change to tackle our current climate change challenges by showing how using smart energy solutions will benefit future sustainable city developments?
  • What advice do we have for property owners who want to secure their own livelihood of electricity and become more independent micro-producers?
  • The story behind the smart solar power solution for the Swedish pavilion “The Forest” with solar energy, optimization, and storage.

Sweden Pavilion

At Expo 2020 in Dubai, the Sweden pavilion is showcasing the collaborative spirit through renewable energy.  As the official battery supplier, Nilar has furnished a sustainable energy storage system to operate in cooperation with solar panels skillfully embedded into the pavilion structure and an intelligent EnergyHub optimizing power use.

The Sweden Pavilion is based on the idea of emerging smart cities within the Scandinavian woodlands. Referred to as “The Forest”, the imaginative wooden landscape presents a metaphor for the synergy of a bio-circular economy, showcasing how technologies are brought together by innovative life sciences and smart cities.

Nilar Technology

Our batteries are designed, developed and manufactured in our state-of-the-art factory in Gävle, Sweden, powered by 100% renewable energy. With fewer parts than most battery manufacturers the build process is simplified and fully automated. Nothing leaves our factory until it has been approved at every stage of production.

Unlike most other industrial batteries, Nilar batteries are fully recyclable. They are also free of cadmium, mercury and lead, and have a miniscule amount of hard-to-recover metals. When you choose Nilar batteries, you choose the most environmentally-conscious solution available.

Ideal Applications

Using energy storage solutions to collect and deliver sustainable energy is good for the environment and for the grid. More and more homes and businesses are in vesting in energy storage. An energy storage system can support renewable energy resources, maximizing their utilization. It can reduce peaks in power consumption to save money while becoming more sustainable.

The ever-increasing growth of renewable energy in the power grid poses new challenges when it comes to grid stability and reliability of supply. Using energy storage can help smooth out the irregular power patterns of renewables such as wind turbines and solar panels, allowing us to move faster towards a carbon neutral society.

Collaboration with Ferroamp and Soltech

In Dubai, the Sweden pavilion shines a spotlight on renewable energy. Nilar is honored to be one of the technologies exemplifying the expertise in Sweden at this global event. The incoming sunlight is harnessed through 1000 square meters of solar panels embedded within the roof and façade by Soltech Energy AB. The EnergyHub, provided by Ferroamp, strategically manages the energy from the solar installations to power the Sweden Pavilion and optimizes power consumption through use of the Nilar energy storage system. Embodying the synergistic spirit of Sweden, the pavilion demonstrates of a complete system furnished through a three-company collaboration.
