Power Systems Engineer
Job Description
An exciting opportunity to join a fast growing start-up company in the clean-tech business. Our company focuses on the automotive industry and mobile power applications. The position is a growth position, adding to our applications staff.
The primary scope of work is as the technical resource on the customer engagement team. The System Engineer will design the energy system solution including required cooling, battery management and battery topology. The System Engineer will then work with technician resources to build and deliver prototype development systems.
Secondarily, the System Engineer will act as an internal technical resource for members of the value chain including: shipping/logistics, manufacturing, sales, quality assurance/test, failure analysis and the power systems design team.
Immediate specific job duties will include:
- Engage current customers to formalize the specification process
- Complete system designs for a variety of customers
- Select sensors, connectors and cables for design
- Source components
- Interact with the BMU design team on designs requiring management
- Circuit simulation and verification
- Define required testing for system validation
- Maintain constant communication about the progress of the program
- Responsible for analyzing field testing results
- Document all phases of the design lifecycle
Candidate Requirements
- 5-8 years experience as a Design Engineer or System Architect
- 4+ years in customer facing role
- Expertise with PC based data analysis
- Expertise in electromechanical system
- Expertise in electronic system troubleshooting
- Experience with high voltage applications (>300 VDC)
- Experience with automotive grade component selection
- General knowledge of embedded systems control
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent written skills, attention to detail
- Requires Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field
- Knowledge of Windows and electronic file systems
- Drug Test and CBC
Candidate Extras
- Masters or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent
- Experience in Commercial Sales
- Background in energy storage systems, batteries or automotive
- Background in power supply design
- Experience with high voltage or electric vehicles
- Expertise in thermal issues of electromechanical systems
- Expertise in design for high vibration environments
Travel
- Less than 25% Travel
