Industrial Batteries
Industrial batteries, used in forklift trucks for example, are dominated by lead-acid based solutions. However, there are inherent difficulties with lead-acid based solutions such as reduced cycle life due to deep discharges, the formation of gas when charging and the environmental aspects that pose limitations on the user. Users that work two or three shift production need to keep spare forklift trucks for use when other forklift trucks are being charged. Nilar’s bipolar NiMH battery would effectively solve this problem by withstanding deep discharges, i.e. longer use per charge, without reducing its cycle life. Other applications, such as industrial cleaning equipment or UPS, would benefit from the loss in weight and volume when implementing Nilar’s bipolar NiMH battery.
According to Avicenne Energy the traction battery market was valued at USD 7.4 billion in 2010. The Company believes that it can approach up to 90 percent of this market.
